I recently finished Miller & Max, a curious tell-all on the making of the Mad Max franchise. Written by Luke Buckmaster, it offers a window into the ailing Australian film industry and its beacon of light George Miller.

In the final chapters, Buckmaster spills the tea on the latest installment, Mad Max: Fury Road and Miller’s decision to install a new leading man in the drivers seat. 

The uber-talented Tom Hardy was tapped to fill Max Rockatansky’s boots but before officially accepting the role, he wanted to meet with his predecessor in the hopes of getting his blessing. 

Scheduling lunch at a Beverly Hills cafe, Mel Gibson kept the British thespian waiting for two hours(!!). Anyone familiar with Hollywood can appreciate the message Gibson was telegraphing. 

’You’re not worthy of my time.’

We’ve all been there. All been made to wait by someone who deems us unworthy of their time.

While we can shrug it off, especially when it’s someone we’re looking to impress, it never feels good to be kept waiting. As we rise through the ranks we can change the conversation.

Let’s treat others the way we want to be treated.
