BFFs

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” — Jim Rohn

The people we choose to spend time with say so much about us. These are the friends that constantly appear at the top of our text messages, the ones we like to share funny memes with when we’re feeling silly.

When it comes to evaluating our inner circle, it’s easy to become defensive, a mother protecting her cubs. It’s also the last thing we want to think about when it comes to creativity. Like it or not, our clique has an enormous effect on our ability to follow our inner compass.

What makes a true friend? They’re the ones that take your call when you’re at your wits end, who shoot straight when everyone else lies through their teeth and care about you whether you’re riding high or hugging the porcelain.

Our ability to create is dependent on the stability of the world around us. The road to revival is fraught with so many obstacles and it’s integral to level out the runway and make our landing as smooth as possible.

If you want to create with confidence you need to surround yourself with people that bring out the best in you, that push you to strive for more than your lot. Genuine relationships aren’t just beneficial to your productivity. They’re nourishment for the soul.
