Mentors are a curious thing. 

While they differ from person to person, they usually occupy an exclusive section of our hearts.

These special souls gave us a leg up at a critical juncture, acknowledged us and our innate abilities when no else would.

As we transition into roles of authority it’s crucial to keep these memories close. To pay it forward when we can.

Sid Sheinberg, the former head of MCA Universal — the parent company of Universal Studios — knew this intuitively when he gave a baby-faced Steven Spielberg his first break in the business.

Humility goes a long way to fostering goodwill in our community. It also keeps us searching for what matters most.
