Transcend The Ordinary
“Homo Sapiens drove to extinction about half of the planets big beasts long before they’d invented the wheel, writing or iron tools.”
— Yuval Noah Harari
I’m re-listening to Sapiens, Yuval Noah Harari’s first book on the mystery that is mankind. It is one of the most captivating reads I’ve come across. A book I can’t recommend enough.
In the opening chapters, Harari traces our timeline, diving deep into the lives of our hunter-gatherer ancestors.
He doesn’t mince words when it comes to our abominable track record with the ecosystem. While it’s sobering to comprehend our nomadic forebears being just as destructive as us, it also offers us a curious vantage point.
We broke the cycle of life. Gave birth to imagined truths like limited liability corporations and national anthems and made them stick for billions of souls the world over.
When we put our minds to it we can do the impossible. So don’t let your dreams go the way of the Smilodon or Diprotodon.
Make your precious time count.
