The Tyranny of Tradition

On one of my sundown walks last week I got to thinking about the fickle realities that get my blood boiling.

Dress codes, gender pay gaps, shallow small-talk, alpha-mentality, mansplaining and the repression of emotional vulnerability.

It began to dawn on me how so many of them stem from our ancestral roots. Passed down through the ages.

While traditions help to keep our descendent’s memories alive, they can also stymie our ability to grow. For when we consistently place duty before desire, we automatically sever any ability to accept our own truths.

For the first time in history we can openly acknowledge the misconceptions of these collective imaginings.

So do yourself a favour and toss duty in the dustbin.
