Keep On Truckin'

I finished Elizabeth Day’s How To Fail this afternoon and got hooked on the final chapter “How to Fail at Success.”

The English author/journalist details a phone interview with Nicole Kidman, citing the Australian actress as the most forthcoming interviewee of her career.

Kidman opens up about a sobering turning point in her thirties. Sitting alone in a hotel room after taking home best actress for The Hours, Kidman knew that she had achieved something incredible and yet felt empty inside.

The thirty-five year old actress had only recently finalized her very public divorce to Tom Cruise, and was still processing the pangs of two miscarriages.

That night she made a promise to herself to follow her instincts in cultivating a life that left her truly fulfilled.

Fifteen years on, while accepting best actress at the 2017 Glamour Women awards in the UK, Kidman expressed her forty-ninth year to be her best yet.

“It’s not over at forty. It begins. And it begins even more at fifty.”
