Facing The Music

While enjoying a Moscow mule with lunch I tuned into a podcast featuring Oprah in conversation with Ralph Lauren. The talk celebrates his fiftieth anniversary in the fashion industry by taking a look back at his path to glory.

Lauren talks about the sense of foreboding that visits him every single time he sets out to start a new project. Whether it’s a new season, store or design opportunity Lauren admits to feeling completely helpless at the outset.

I know this sensation all too well. Every single time I set out to write or edit a video project I’m overcome with a sense of despair. How the hell am I going to come up with the goods again?

The answer lies in momentum. Taking the first step and having the confidence to keep moving forward. No one knows what lies at the end of the rainbow but that’s where the magic lives.
